Track lighting

FAQ

  • Rail lighting allows a single power point to be used for any form of lighting throughout a space. A light source can be connected anywhere in the rail. So, it is the most flexible form of lighting.
  • You choose a rail system depending on the desired spots and not the other way around. Note that not all rail spots are suitable for every rail system.
  • However, it may be possible to connect pendant lamps using an adapter specific to the rail system.

  1. Secure the rails onto the ceiling.
  2. Connect the power cord to the rail’s power inlet.
  3. Click the spots onto the rail.
  4. Make sure you consult the manual to ensure you install it correctly. Some rails or spots have a unique mounting system.

  • With 1-phase rails, the electricity runs between two wires, namely, the phase and null wires. This means that all light sources on the rail are operated at the same time and thus are always switched on or off together.
  • 3-phase rails use 3-phase wires that are combined separately with the null wire. This makes it possible to have three different circuits on the rail (e.g. spots, TIs, and pendant lamps). All three can be operated separately.

What?

Where most fixtures rely on the present electrical connection points, this is not the case with track lighting. Track lighting is much more flexible. There are tension rails to which fixtures can be attached to with special adapters. Track lighting also makes it possible to change the lighting in a room quickly and easily.

Choice of track lighting

Track lighting is about the most versatile form of ceiling lighting. You have them in overhead and integral versions and the fixtures that can be connected to them vary from spots to pendants.

Another distinction we make between track lighting is the fact that they are single or three phased. Both systems have of course advantages and disadvantages .

TTrack lighting cannot only be attached to ceilings but also against vertical surfaces. Track lighting is, for example, ideal for display windows.

You do have to calculate the number of fixtures and their weight. Low tension halogen lights are for example fairly heavy. Are you not sure about the number of allowed fixtures on a rail system? Please consult our lighting experts. They can provide personal advice.
